#NAME Error when importing a WinQS ASCII file

Hi everyone,

I am busy updating my addin and one of the items I want to address is the issue of #NAME cell values when importing a WinQS ASCII file. I have not come across this issue personally, but I do know that it exists, and I need your help in finding out what causes it.

The #NAME error occurs when Excel does not recognise text in formula, so my assumption is that something is causing Excel to view imported text as a formula rather than plain text in that cell.

In order to resolve this issue, I need to know what text Excel is trying to import in that particular cell. You can help by either providing a copy of a TXT file, exported from WinQS, that has this problem, or by letting me know what text is contained in the cell.

Please respond in this thread if you are able to assist.

Thank you,
Ian

Hi Ian.

We pick it up in the beginning when you have an item like this in WinQS:
"- Aluminium windows, etc, and set up complete."

The "-" does something like this.

But I have just check, and it is working with it fine.

Maybe just check again.

Thank you Fanie. I'll cook up a few descriptions in WinQS on this basis and see how it goes.

Ian

What we pickup yesterday is if you have a long description with comma's inside it, it sometimes push the comma to be first in the next line. And then it stop importing.

Hi Fanie,

Does this error still occur with the updated version of the addin released last night?
